Summer 2015 – Day 15 – Neah Bay, WA

Woke after a good night’s sleep to another foggy, rainy day. Fixed scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast.  Dog has not pooped since leaving Ilwaco, and we would like to pump out.  We don’t have any phone service here.  Haved tried hailing the Neah Bay marina on the radio with no response. So, pulled up the anchor and motored to the marina looking for the pump out. None to be found, but docked quickly near the fish cleaning station.  Dan stayed aboard, and I took the dog up to shore to poop and dumped the trash while I was there. Marina office closed as were the bathrooms, so having a slip won’t get anyone a shower.  Little store by the marina has dry ice, but no cube ice, so we’ll just keep rationing ice and enjoying a more British drink. Back to ouranchor spot, but a little better line to the internet reception so I got to Facebook.  Made tuna noodle casserole for dinner with leftovers for  tomorrow.
Wind models show wind turning back to NW tomorrow with clearing, so we will plan to head back down the coast.  It’s a long way up the Strait to anywhere.  We have already ruled out Canada as we would have to give up our liquor stores, as well as our eggs and maybe the dog food.  And, we would have to go all the way to Astoria on the return to clear customs.  And, it’s been very foggy, and we don’t have radar to feel comfortable navigating Barkley Sound.  It’s fine as our main objectives were to sail some distance offshore, do some overnights and fish for tuna.
